NYC Diesel Origin and Genetics
NYC Diesel originates from East Coast breeder Chem dog’s work, creator of the much-loved Chemdawg and Sour Diesel strains. According to his own report, JJ-NYC traded clones with a guy known as “Weasel” in 1992. The strain JJ-NYC received was a ’91 Chem which he renamed Diesel, or New York City Diesel. Soma Seeds of Amsterdam got a hold of some bag seed from a buddy in NYC who claimed it was the best pot he had ever smoked. The man had dreads down to the ground, so Soma believed him.

I got 3 of these as clones and they are by far the best plants I have grown yet! They are sturdy, branchy and just plain look good. The smell is strong both vegging and flowering. When I top them they take a bit to start branching again but when they do they really go nuts. I had one that extended up and then started going sideways so I just topped it again and it took off even more! It made the highest yield (14oz) I have ever made from a plant in my life. my other 2 are just over 12oz each. Overall, NYC Diesel is great and I recommend it to anyone growing indoors.

Bulky plants, slightly sativa in growth but with good internoding. The New York Diesel seems to fill in better and yielded a few ounces more than the Sour Diesel right next to it, but the NYC doesn’t have the sour fruit taste that people love. It’s a pungent smoke, pretty good, but not the best. Looks like commercial grade weed IMO.

I had 5 fems from Dinafem, started early May outdoors at 31 degrees North. Topped the plants 2 times and they grew into 5/6 foot bushes, very wide and the colas stacked upwards. Harvested in the middle of October, each one brought in over a pound. Surprisingly productive because even the inner buds came out big and hard.

Been growing this for a few years now and it is one of the easier strains to grow outdoors in my experience. Finishes later than other hybrids, but yields are always big. Dense, solid nuggets. A little more “in your head” than body, which is a nice change. All around great strain!

Outdoors in Cali this is a solid producer. Med size plant – heavy cola – large number of flowers – very little stretch – but still has time to double in size if kept well fed and watered.
Great smoke – very up and very clean high – no couchlock or groggyness at all.
