Gelato Origin and Genetics
Gelato originates from California, a product of the Cookie Fam, Sherbinskis, and cultivator Mario Guzman. It was created by crossbreeding Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint GSC genetics. The breeders released a series of numbered Gelato phenotypes before they parted ways, each of which has its own special qualities. Today, you can find feminized versions of Gelato for sale from seed breeders worldwide.

How to Grow Gelato
Gelato may present a challenge to the grower. It is a finicky plant that requires careful tending to ensure optimum growth and returns. Gelato does best cultivated indoors in a controlled environment with a constant supply of nutrients, light, and water. Flowering time is a bit long at up to 10 weeks indoors. The experienced cannabis cultivator can get yields over 500 g/m2. Outdoors, Gelato plants are ready to harvest during the month of October.

Grew 4 plants indoors under a 400W sun system grow light using coco and fox farm nutrients. They filled up my grow tent (4×4) and were absolutely covered in buds by harvest time. Trichome production was through the roof on these girls, the most I’ve ever seen. Smell is pungent, sweet, and skunky. Smoke is very heavy and hits you right away, followed by a mellow relaxed feeling. Great for pain relief and sleeping. One of my favorite strains!

This was my third attempt at growing, I’m giving it 5 stars as the results were really good and I smoked a lot of really nice buds! The smoke is VERY smooth and has a sweet taste. I grew these indoors under a 1000w led grow light in a 5 gallon pot with super soil and achieved around 4 ounces of very nice smoke from each plant. I live in California so it’s legal for me to grow marijuana.

I started with 5 seeds and hoping that at least one turns out good. I followed directions online and soaked the seeds in water for 24 hours before planting. Then put into a little pot sitting in perlite. I have been giving them 24 hour LED light and find that they need to be watered every day. They are starting to grow leaves and look healthy. The main stem is thick. I’m excited to see them flower.
