LA Confidential Origin and Genetics
The genetics of LA Confidential are not actually confidential, or rather have been declassified. It is a pure indica strain created using OG LA Affie—a three-way hybrid developed circa 1978 by a NorCal breeder named Johnny Que. OG LA Affie was bred with another Afghani plant, and thus LA Confidential was born. The strain was first released by DNA genetics in the early 2000s. LA Confidential has won several awards, including the 2006 High Times Strain of the Year.
How to Grow LA Confidential
LA Confidential is regarded as one of the easiest marijuana strains to grow. It responds well to plenty of light, water, and nutrients. The strain has two phenotypes, with the main difference being one is more girthy in appearance. Neither exhibit much stretch during their 8-week flowering cycle, yielding up to 450 g/m2 of dank, rock-hard buds. LA Confidential is ready to harvest outdoors from late September to early October.

This was my first time growing out LA Confidential and I am very pleased with the buds. I toke a rip out of a joint that my friend rolled and it hit instantly. I would definitely suggest trying this strain if you want extreme highs. Just be careful with the amount you smoke. A fat rip of this will put anyone into couchlock for hours. The plants have a strong indica dominance and it shows in the nugs and plants… stature wise. It grows shorter like an indica would, but its denser and bushier than most sativas.

When I first got into growing weed around 2008, LA Confidential was hyped as this new unreal hybrid. DNA Genetics was all the rage, and it’s supposed to be one of their best. So I definitely wanted to try it out for myself. Got the seeds from the Attitude Seedbank. After growing it indoors under a single 400W HPS, I have to say that it lived up to the hype. It’s a good solid plant. Very reliable and consistent. The buds are ultra frosty, it smells nice, and it gets you REALLY high.
