Become a Seed Steward
Support the World Seed Fund and Organic Seed Alliance
The World Seed Fund (WSF) and the Organic Seed Alliance (OSA) work with organic farmers and seed professionals in order to support the stewardship, ethical development, and equal distribution of seed resources. World Seed Fund-For over 15 years WSF has gifted organizations around the world with quality open pollinated seed and seed saving information. They assist Doctors Without Borders, Dominican Sisters of Mercy, American Friends Service Committee, and other organizations working for peace, justice, and food security to help build garden and farm projects that feed communities, empower individuals, and bring reconciliation in areas of strife. Prison gardens, Bosnian peace gardens, school and elder gardens for education and therapyall have benefited from the work of the WSF. Your donation will allow the WSF to purchase seed from organic farmers, pay for international shipping, and develop educational seed saving materials. WSF is managed by the staff, board, and volunteers of the Organic Seed Alliance. Organic Seed Alliance The Seed Growers Network of Abundant Life Seed Foundation put out the call for educational and research programs that would improve seed stewardship practices. OSA responded with integrated programs that work to increase and improve the quality of regional seed production, maintain seed heritage, develop new varieties for organic systems, and inform the public and policy makers on important issues pertaining to the stewardship of seeds. OSA's workshops, conferences, and educational materials provide farmers and gardeners with valuable skills to produce quality seed that is adapted to localized conditions. OSA supports farmer-led breeding projects that work to restore and improve existing varieties and develop new varieties with disease resistance, draught tolerance, and other traits for organic agriculture. Additionally, OSA works to protect farmers rights to save seeds, prevent the contamination of genetic resources, and insure a diversity of varietial choices for the farmers and gardeners. Your donation will improve seed quality and help keep farmers in control of seed resources.
