Growing Information - Potatoes
All of our seed potatoes are certified organic and disease free. We provide a diverse selection of unique potatoes with varying colors, textures, and flavors. Cultivated for over 7,000 years, potatoes are an integral part of the vegetable garden.
Potatoes should be planted at or just before your last frost date. For optimum production, seed potatoes should be planted 4-6 inches deep, 12 inches apart, in rows 12-24 inches apart. Plant in loose, well-drained soil. In heavy soil, plant 2-3 inches deep and cover with 2-3 inches of mulch. Apply a high phosphorous fertilizer such as bone meal to improve yield. Water on a regular basis.
One pound of seed potatoes will plant approximately 10 row feet. Fingerlings will plant approximately 25 row feet.
Our seed potatoes are shipped from mid-March through May. Orders placed with items marked ''Shipped ASAP'' are available mid-March. Orders placed with items marked ''Shipped in April'' will be shipped in mid-April.
