Growing Information - Parsley
Sowing Indoors-Start seeds in flats or individual pots in the early spring and transplant outside around the time of your last frost.
Sowing Outdoors-Direct sow 2-3 seeds per inch, 1-2 weeks before last frost date. Thin when plants have 2-4 true leaves. Growing Tips-Parsley is quite cold hardy, often surviving below 10°F. Even if the tops die back, the roots resprout in spring, allowing for a heavy cutting until the plant spends itself out flowering. Harvesting Tips-Cut individual sprigs as needed from the outside edges of the plant. For drying, cut all but the center growth. Seed Specs-Approximately 350 seeds per gram. Minimum germination standard: 65%. Usual seed life: 2 years. Seed Saving Tips-Parsley is cross-pollinated by a wide range of insects. Isolation should be 1/2 mile between the same leaf type cultivars and 1 mile apart between curled and smooth leaf types.
